CCP Approves PTCL’S Acquisition of Telenor Pakistan

The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has given conditional approval to Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) for its acquisition of Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers.

This decision marks an important milestone for the country’s telecom industry, as it is expected to boost connectivity, improve service quality, and speed up digital innovation, including the upcoming 5G rollout.

While granting approval, CCP has added a set of conditions to make sure the merger does not create unfair advantages. These safeguards are designed to stop anti-competitive behavior, protect the rights of customers, and maintain healthy competition in the telecom market.

PTCL, which is a leading name in Pakistan’s telecommunications sector, stated that this move reflects its commitment to delivering better customer experiences and supporting nationwide digital growth.

The company highlighted that the merger will allow them to expand infrastructure, invest in advanced technology, and play a key role in shaping Pakistan’s digital future.

Industry experts believe that this consolidation will not only help modernize networks but also create opportunities for more efficient services and wider coverage across the country. By combining resources and expertise, PTCL and Telenor Pakistan can work together to strengthen digital access for millions of people.

Overall, this step is seen as a positive development for the telecom sector. With the backing of CCP’s conditions, the merger is expected to balance innovation with consumer protection. It will likely contribute to Pakistan’s journey toward becoming a more connected and digitally empowered nation.
