Former Pakistani Senator Mushtaq Ahmed and Greta Thunberg Arre*sted by Israeli Forces

Former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, who was leading Pakistan’s delegation on the Global Sumud Flotilla, has been taken into custody after Israeli forces intercepted the ship.

The flotilla, which was sailing in international waters, was part of a global movement aiming to break the blockade on Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians.

The Pakistan Palestine Forum confirmed the arrest through a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan has been arrested by Israel.”

The announcement has raised concerns among human rights activists and organizations around the world, many of whom are now calling for his immediate release.

The Global Sumud Flotilla consists of international activists, politicians, and humanitarian workers who have come together to highlight the suffering of Palestinians under the ongoing blockade. Mushtaq Ahmad Khan’s participation symbolized Pakistan’s strong political and moral support for the Palestinian cause.

Observers believe the arrest of an international figure leading such a mission will likely increase diplomatic pressure on Israel. Many expect Pakistan to raise the issue on global platforms, demanding the senator’s release and an end to such actions against peaceful humanitarian efforts.

This is not the first time Israel has stopped flotillas carrying aid to Gaza but the detention of a high-profile leader from Pakistan marks a significant escalation.

Rights groups are warning that silencing such humanitarian voices will only increase global attention on the blockade and the urgent need for peace in the region.
