People in Pakistan will soon witness a rare sight in the night sky as the first Supermoon of 2025 is expected on October 7. Astronomers say the moon will appear much bigger and brighter than usual, giving stargazers a memorable view.
A Supermoon happens when the moon comes closest to Earth in its orbit. Because of this, the moon looks larger and shines more brightly than on ordinary full moon nights. This October, the moon will be about 224,599 miles away from Earth, making it the nearest since November last year.
The event is not limited to Pakistan. Sky lovers around the world will be able to enjoy the same view. Following October’s Supermoon, two more will light up the skies on November 5 and December 5. Another one is also expected in January 2026, though it will fall outside the 2025 calendar.
Experts highlight that each year usually brings three to four Supermoons. Among them, the November 2025 Supermoon is predicted to be the brightest, with the moon moving even closer at 221,817 miles.
For many, the excitement of a Supermoon lies not just in its size but also in the magical experience of seeing the moon dominate the sky with such clarity. People across Pakistan are being encouraged to step outside on October 7 to enjoy this natural wonder.
