Indonesia Denies Visas to Isr@eli Gymnasts, Barring Them from World Championship

Indonesia has refused to issue visas to Israeli gymnasts, effectively barring them from participating in the upcoming World Gymnastics Championship scheduled to take place later this month.

According to international media reports, the decision stems from Indonesia’s lack of formal diplomatic relations with Israel and growing public opposition amid tensions in the Middle East.

The refusal has sparked global debate over the intersection of sports and politics, with several organizations calling for equal participation and non-discrimination in international competitions.

Event organizers are reportedly in talks with Indonesian authorities and the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) to find a possible solution, but as of now, the Israeli delegation remains unable to travel.

The development has drawn mixed reactions worldwide. Supporters of Indonesia’s stance argue that the decision reflects the country’s solidarity with Palestinians, while critics claim that it undermines the spirit of global sportsmanship and unity.

This is not the first time Indonesia has faced diplomatic challenges in hosting international sports events. Earlier instances have also seen visa-related controversies involving Israeli athletes.

As discussions continue, it remains unclear whether the FIG will consider relocating or postponing the event to ensure fair competition for all teams.
