Pakistani students aspiring to study abroad have a new opportunity to pursue higher education at one of Asia’s top universities. The University of Tokyo has announced the opening of applications for the ADB-Japan Scholarship Program 2026, a fully funded initiative aimed at students from Asian Development Bank (ADB) member countries, including Pakistan.
What the Scholarship Offers
This scholarship covers almost all major expenses for selected master’s degree candidates. Recipients will receive tuition coverage, a monthly living allowance, travel costs, medical insurance and support for research or thesis-related work. The program is designed to help international students focus entirely on their studies without worrying about finances.
Who Can Apply
The program targets students who:
- Are citizens of an ADB member country like Pakistan
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution
- Have at least two years of full-time work experience in a related field
- Are under 35 years of age
- Are committed to returning to their home country for at least two years after graduation
- Do not already hold a master’s degree
Students planning to pursue a PhD are advised to explore the MEXT Scholarship instead.
Application Requirements
Applicants need to submit:
- A completed application form from the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences (GSFS)
- A research and study plan
- Academic transcripts and degree certificate
- Two recommendation letters sent directly by referees to the university
It is also mandatory to contact potential supervisors at the GSFS before applying and list up to five of them in the application. Departments accepting applications include Environmental Studies, Ocean Technology, International Studies and Sustainability Science.
