Pakistan has announced a temporary closure of its airspace near the Indian border for two days, as per a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA).
The restriction will be in place on October 28 and 29, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., and will affect several flight routes passing through the Lahore and Karachi Flight Information Regions (FIRs) close to the Indian frontier.
According to the aviation notice, all domestic and international airlines operating in these regions have been advised to review their flight schedules and take precautionary measures to avoid disruptions.
Airlines may need to reroute or delay flights during the restricted hours to comply with the temporary airspace closure.
While the PCAA has not officially stated the reason behind the decision, aviation sources have hinted that the move might be related to ongoing military exercises taking place on the Indian side of the border.
Such airspace closures are occasionally enforced to ensure the safety of civilian air traffic during military activities or other strategic operations.
The temporary suspension is expected to have a limited impact on regular air travel since the closure period is relatively short and falls during early morning hours. However, flight operators are closely monitoring updates from the PCAA to ensure smooth operations and passenger safety.
Authorities have assured that the airspace will reopen as scheduled after 9 a.m. each day, and normal flight operations will resume without delay. Travelers are advised to check with their respective airlines for any changes in flight timings.
