Oman has introduced a new cultural visa designed to welcome talented people from around the world who work in arts, heritage, literature, and creative fields. This step aims to make it easier for international professionals to visit Oman, take part in cultural work, and contribute to the country’s growing creative environment.
The new visa offers a clear and simple process for foreigners who want to join cultural programs, attend artistic activities, or collaborate with Omani institutions.
It allows applicants to stay in the country for a limited period while participating in approved cultural work. The visa must be requested by an Omani host organization, which may include cultural ministries, universities, art centers, or institutions involved in training and research.
Through this visa, individuals from abroad can take part in activities such as cultural workshops, creative training, artistic research, literary exchanges, and heritage-related programs.
People attending exhibitions, book fairs, conferences or cultural festivals in Oman will also be able to benefit from the facility. In addition, close family members of the visitor such as children, spouses, and parents may apply for a special joining visa to accompany them.
The visa fee depends on the duration chosen by the visitor. A one-year cultural visa costs 50 Omani Riyals, while long-term options of five and ten years also carry a fee of 50 Omani Riyals per year. This flexible structure is intended to support individuals who plan to visit Oman frequently for cultural purposes.
Authorities say the new cultural visa is an important step toward promoting knowledge-sharing and strengthening Oman’s cultural identity.
By creating easier access for experts, artists, and researchers, the country hopes to encourage deeper cultural exchange, support creative growth and expand its role as a welcoming destination for cultural tourism.
