Punjab has announced strict new steps to improve transparency and fairness in board examinations by introducing CCTV cameras and biometric attendance systems at examination and paper-marking centres across the province.
The decision was taken on the directions of Rawalpindi Commissioner Aamir Khattak after he assumed acting charge as Chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi. The measures are part of a broader effort to restore trust in the examination system and ensure that students are assessed honestly.
Education authorities have clearly stated that there will be zero tolerance for paper leaks, cheating, or any kind of negligence by staff. Any violation of exam rules will lead to immediate action. To strengthen monitoring, a central control room will be set up to oversee examination activities in real time through surveillance cameras.
In addition, biometric attendance will be mandatory for staff working at exam and marking centres. This step is aimed at preventing impersonation, unauthorized access, and absenteeism. Officials have also directed that any disciplinary cases related to exams must be resolved quickly, without unnecessary delays.
These reforms are intended to create a fair and transparent examination environment for students appearing in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) exams in 2026. Authorities believe the new system will help ensure that hardworking students receive results based on merit rather than unfair practices.
