The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced 2,800 new jobs in government schools for low educated individuals. These positions will be filled as chowkidars (watchmen) to improve school security and provide employment opportunities across the province.
According to officials, the recruitment drive will cover 28 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Hiring will be carried out through public advertisements, open competition, and a strictly merit based process. Authorities have confirmed that transparency will be ensured at every stage to give equal opportunity to eligible candidates.
Mansehra has received the highest number of positions, with 377 jobs approved under the new plan. Bannu follows with 263 posts, while Mardan has been allocated 256 positions. In the provincial capital, Peshawar, 162 chowkidar jobs will be filled. Abbottabad will recruit 154 watchmen, and Laki Marwat has been allocated 160 positions.
Education department officials stated that the new appointments aim to address staff shortages in schools, especially in rural and underdeveloped areas. Many schools currently lack basic security staff, which affects safety and overall management. The recruitment of chowkidars is expected to help create a safer environment for students, teachers, and school property.
The initiative is also being seen as a positive step to reduce unemployment among low educated citizens, particularly those seeking stable government jobs. Local communities have welcomed the announcement, calling it a practical move that supports both education and employment.
With this recruitment drive, the KP government continues its efforts to strengthen the public education system while creating job opportunities at the grassroots level.
