Sialkot International Airport has officially become Pakistan’s second fully cashless airport, taking an important step toward modern and digital travel services across the country.
With the support of Meezan Bank Limited, all payments at the airport are now being handled through digital methods only. This includes payments at airline ticket counters, passenger lounges, parking areas, retail shops, food outlets, and other service counters. Cash transactions are no longer accepted within the airport premises.
Airport authorities say the move is aimed at making travel easier and faster for passengers. Digital payments are expected to reduce waiting times, improve transparency, and help airport operations run more smoothly. Officials also believe the system will lower the risk of errors and improve financial record-keeping.
The leadership of Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) said the shift to a cashless system reflects their commitment to modern airport management, innovation, and providing a better overall experience for travelers. They added that adopting digital solutions is an important part of keeping pace with global aviation standards.
Looking ahead, the airport plans to further expand its digital services by working closely with regulators, banks, and other industry partners. These efforts are expected to introduce more advanced facilities and improve convenience for both domestic and international passengers.
