Pepsi’s Main Distributor Haideri Beverages and Beverages Plus Sealed for Allegedly Using Expired, Cockroach-Infested Ingredient

The Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) has sealed two companies, Haideri Beverages and Beverages Plus, which are distributors of a well-known international beverage brand, after discovering serious food safety violations.

During a surprise inspection at their warehouses in Humak Model Town, IFA officials found alarming conditions. According to authorities, large quantities of sugar were expired and infested with fungus. Inspectors also discovered that expiry dates on around 150 sugar bags had been altered. In addition, cockroaches were found in storage areas, and overall hygiene standards were described as extremely poor.

As part of the inspection, officials collected two samples for laboratory testing to further assess the quality and safety of the materials being used. Until the test results are received, the IFA has sealed more than 54,800 sugar bags and completely shut down the warehouses.

To protect public health, all production, sale, and purchase activities linked to these facilities have been suspended until further notice. The Islamabad Food Authority has stated that strict action will be taken in line with food safety laws and that no compromise will be made on consumer health and safety.
