Apple Inc. is reportedly planning to start manufacturing iPhones in Pakistan under a new policy introduced by the government.
The plan is part of a Mobile and Electronics Manufacturing Framework designed to attract major international technology companies to invest in the country.
According to reports, the government wants to turn Pakistan into a regional hub for exporting mobile phones and electronic products.
By encouraging global brands to set up production facilities locally, officials hope to boost exports, create jobs, and strengthen the country’s economy.
To attract Apple’s investment, the government has offered several incentives. One of the main proposals includes an 8 percent performance-based incentive.
This means the company could receive financial benefits based on its production and export performance. In addition, the government has offered land at discounted rates to make it easier and more affordable for the company to establish manufacturing plants.
If the plan moves forward, it could mark an important step for Pakistan’s technology sector. Local manufacturing of iPhones would reduce dependence on imports and could help develop technical skills within the workforce. It may also encourage other global electronics companies to consider Pakistan as a production base.
Officials believe that such investments would support industrial growth and improve the country’s image as a competitive destination for technology manufacturing in the region.
