Education boards across Punjab have issued a strong warning to students and the public ahead of the annual examinations, stressing that sharing exam question papers on social media is a serious criminal offense.
Authorities stated that uploading or forwarding papers through platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, or X is strictly prohibited under examination laws.
According to officials, the action falls under the Punjab University and Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education Malpractices Act, 1950, which aims to prevent cheating and protect the fairness of examinations.
Anyone found involved in leaking or sharing question papers may face strict legal consequences, including imprisonment of up to three years and fines reaching Rs. 50,000.
To maintain transparency and discipline during exams, education boards have also banned mobile phones inside examination centers.
Students are not allowed to carry smartphones or any electronic devices that can capture or transmit information. Taking photos, recording videos, or sending exam-related content digitally during the exam is completely forbidden.
Authorities have instructed examination staff to closely monitor centers and immediately report any suspicious activity. Special measures are being taken to ensure exams are conducted in a fair and secure environment for all students.
Officials emphasized that these steps are necessary to discourage malpractice and maintain equal opportunities for candidates who prepare honestly. Students and parents have been advised to follow all rules carefully and avoid sharing any exam material online.
The education boards urged everyone to cooperate with authorities so that examinations can take place smoothly, fairly, and without any violations of the law.
