Over 3 Lac Govt Employees to Receive Salaries with 2-Day Deduction Due to Petrol Crisis

More than 300,000 government employees in Punjab will receive their salaries with a two-day deduction as part of the provincial government’s fuel conservation measures during the ongoing petrol crisis. The step has been taken to help reduce government expenditures on fuel and encourage more efficient use of available resources amid the current shortage.

The decision comes after directives issued by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who has instructed government departments to implement strict measures aimed at limiting unnecessary travel and reducing fuel consumption. Authorities believe that such actions can help manage the pressure on petroleum supplies while the country deals with the broader impact of rising fuel prices and supply challenges.

Officials say the move is part of a wider strategy to control operational costs within government offices and promote responsible use of energy resources. Alongside salary adjustments, several other measures have also been introduced to limit fuel usage, including reduced official travel and restrictions on government vehicle use.

The provincial administration maintains that these steps are temporary and intended to help the government navigate the ongoing fuel crisis while ensuring that essential public services continue to operate smoothly.
