The Punjab government has introduced a new financial support program called the Maryam Nawaz Eidi Scheme ahead of Eid ul Fitr. Under this initiative, eligible residents will receive Rs. 5,000 to help manage expenses during the festive season. The move is part of broader efforts to provide relief to low and middle income families facing rising costs.
According to officials, the scheme is designed to make Eid celebrations easier for households struggling with daily expenses. With inflation affecting food, clothing, and other essentials, such cash support can help families buy basic items and prepare for the occasion with less financial stress.
To qualify, applicants must be residents of Punjab and at least 12 years old. Individuals aged 18 and above need a valid CNIC, while younger applicants must provide a B Form. The payment will be transferred through digital wallets such as Easypaisa and JazzCash, making the process faster and more transparent.
Social welfare experts say direct cash assistance programs have become more common in Pakistan in recent years. Similar initiatives have been used to support vulnerable groups during economic challenges and special occasions.
This scheme will not only provide short term relief but also encourage the use of digital financial services. More details about the application process and distribution timeline are expected to be shared soon.
