Zong has officially started its 5G services in more than 16 cities across Pakistan after successfully securing spectrum through the recent auction. This marks an important step forward in the country’s journey toward faster and more advanced mobile connectivity.
The initial rollout includes major cities such as Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and Quetta. These urban centers are among the first to experience the benefits of 5G technology, including faster internet speeds and improved network performance.
After receiving its 5G license, Zong has announced plans to further expand its network by installing over 1,000 5G sites across the country during 2026. This expansion is expected to improve coverage and make high-speed internet accessible to more users in both urban and semi-urban areas.
Zong’s progress in 5G is built on years of preparation and testing. The company began its early 5G trials in 2019, where it achieved speeds of more than 1.4Gbps. These trials helped the company understand the technology and prepare for a wider commercial launch.
The introduction of 5G is expected to bring major improvements in digital services, including better streaming, faster downloads, and more reliable connections for businesses and individuals. It will also support the growth of new technologies such as smart cities, online education, and digital healthcare.
