Fuel Saver! Golootlo App Set for Nationwide Launch to Offer Discounted Petrol

The government of Pakistan has started preparing a new plan to provide petrol subsidies for low-income individuals during the ongoing energy crisis. The aim of this initiative is to reduce the financial burden on people who are struggling with rising fuel prices.

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has developed a mobile application to manage and distribute the subsidy. This app is currently in the testing phase and is expected to be launched across the country soon.

The subsidy program is mainly focused on motorcycle and rickshaw owners, as they are among the most affected by fuel costs.

Under the proposed plan, motorcycle users may receive a monthly quota of up to 20 litres of petrol at a subsidized rate. This is expected to provide some relief to daily commuters and workers who rely heavily on bikes for transportation.

The government is also considering whether to extend this subsidy to small cars with engines up to 800cc. However, a final decision on this matter has not yet been made.

To support the program, around 12,000 petrol pumps across the country are expected to set up dedicated fuel nozzles for subsidized petrol. This will help ensure smooth distribution and avoid confusion at fuel stations.
