Pakistan Army’s Mohammad Gulzar, widely known as Gullu Butt Pehlwan, has won the prestigious Rustam-e-Pakistan wrestling title after a strong performance in the national finals. The event took place in Noorpur, Faisalabad, where he defeated WAPDA’s Muhammad Adnan, also known as Tyran Wala, in a tough, closely watched bout.
Rustam-e-Pakistan is one of the highest honors in traditional wrestling in the country. It represents strength, discipline, and years of training in the sport of kushti.
Gulzar’s victory has added his name to the list of top wrestlers who have carried forward Pakistan’s rich wrestling tradition.
Gulzar is a student of world champion Inam Butt, which has played a key role in shaping his career. He trained at the historic Jinnah Health Wrestling Club in Gujranwala, a place known for producing talented wrestlers over many years.
Over time, Gulzar has built an impressive record. He has represented Pakistan in more than 55 countries, demonstrating his skills at the international level.
He first gained attention at a young age when he won a gold medal at just 15. More recently, he secured a bronze medal at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games.
Apart from competing, Gulzar is also focused on training young wrestlers. His efforts aim to keep the sport alive and inspire the next generation across Pakistan.
