Japan’s leading telecommunications company, NTT, has introduced an innovative four-core optical fiber cable that has the potential to significantly transform global data transmission. This new development could boost internet data capacity by up to 400% while maintaining the same physical size as existing fiber cables, making it a highly efficient upgrade.
Unlike traditional single-core optical fibers that transmit data through just one channel, this advanced cable is designed with four separate cores. Each core can carry signals simultaneously, enabling much higher data throughput and faster communication speeds without requiring additional space or major structural changes.
One of the most notable advantages of this technology is its compatibility with much of the current internet infrastructure. This means network providers may not need to completely overhaul existing systems, making the transition to higher-capacity networks more cost-effective and easier to implement.
