LPG prices in cities like Lahore and Multan have increased sharply, crossing Rs. 500 per kilogram and causing serious concern among consumers. Many households and businesses that rely on LPG are finding it difficult to manage their daily expenses due to this sudden rise.
According to shopkeepers, LPG is currently being sold between Rs. 500 and Rs. 510 per kg in different areas. They say that retailers themselves are buying the gas at high rates, usually between Rs. 480 and Rs. 490 per kg.
This is much higher than the official price set by authorities, which is around Rs. 304 per kg. This shows an increase of nearly Rs. 200 per kg, putting extra financial pressure on the public.
Shopkeepers have claimed that LPG marketing companies are supplying gas at higher prices than usual. Because of this, retailers have no choice but to sell at increased rates.
On the other hand, many citizens believe that an “LPG mafia” is taking advantage of the situation and earning large profits by raising prices unfairly.
People have urged the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority to take immediate action and control the situation. They are demanding strict measures to ensure that LPG is sold at the official rate and that no one is allowed to exploit consumers.
