Pakistan Navy’s elite special forces unit, SSG-N, has conducted a unique underwater badge ceremony for its newly trained commandos.
During the ceremony, selected personnel completed the final stage of their intense training and were officially inducted into the elite unit. The event was carried out entirely underwater, making it one of the most unusual military ceremonies.
Officials said the underwater format of the ceremony reflects the tough nature of the training and the high level of skills required to join SSG-N.
The commandos are trained to operate in sea, underwater, and coastal environments, where missions demand extreme physical fitness, mental strength, and quick decision-making.
According to sources, the training program is considered one of the most challenging military courses in the world. It includes long periods of endurance training, diving operations, survival skills, and tactical missions in difficult conditions.
The badge ceremony marks the successful completion of this demanding journey and symbolizes the transition of trainees into fully qualified special operations personnel. Only a small number of candidates are able to complete the program due to its strict standards.
Military officials highlighted that SSG-N plays a key role in protecting Pakistan’s maritime borders and conducting special operations at sea. Their responsibilities include counter-terrorism, reconnaissance, and underwater missions in sensitive areas.
The ceremony also aimed to recognize the dedication and discipline of the commandos who completed the training. Officials praised their commitment and said such individuals strengthen the operational readiness of the navy.
