Libyan Pilgrim Survives Heart Attack During Hajj Thanks to 9-Minute Life-Saving Procedure by Emergency Team

A Libyan pilgrim’s life was saved in Makkah after he suffered a serious heart attack and cardiac arrest near the Grand Mosque during Hajj. The quick action by Saudi medical teams turned this dangerous situation into a success story of modern emergency care.

The Makkah Health Cluster immediately activated its emergency cardiac-care protocol. The patient was quickly moved to a mobile cardiac catheterization unit at Al-Haram Emergency Hospital, part of King Abdullah Medical City. A team of specialists worked fast and reopened the blocked main artery in just nine minutes. They also treated another artery that was more than 90% narrowed.

After the emergency procedure and proper medical follow-up, the pilgrim’s condition became stable. He was discharged from the hospital in good health and was able to continue his Hajj rituals without any problems.

This case shows the high level of healthcare preparedness in Makkah during the Hajj season. Saudi Arabia has established advanced mobile units and rapid-response teams to handle such emergencies near holy sites.

Thousands of pilgrims from around the world come to Hajj every year, and such prompt medical care gives them confidence and a sense of safety.
