Pakistan’s seafood exports reached a historic high of $568 million during FY2025–26, setting a new annual record for the country’s fisheries sector and reflecting growing international demand for Pakistani seafood products.
Frozen fish remained the largest export category throughout the year, while squid, cuttlefish, fish meal, shrimp, and crabs also made significant contributions to the overall export earnings.
Pakistan’s seafood was shipped to key global markets, including China, Thailand, Malaysia, the UAE, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and the United States, highlighting the sector’s expanding international footprint.
Government officials attributed the record performance to stricter quality control measures, improved regulatory oversight, better compliance with international food safety standards, and the continued efforts of exporters.
The milestone was achieved despite regional trade challenges and shipping disruptions, underscoring the resilience of Pakistan’s fisheries industry. The strong export performance also reflects the growing potential of the country’s blue economy and its increasing competitiveness in global seafood markets.
