The International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved a financial loan of $12.82 million for Cricket West Indies (CWI) to help improve the board’s financial stability and support its long-term operations.
The funding comes as CWI continues to face financial challenges after reporting substantial losses and forecasting another budget deficit during the current financial cycle.
The decision was finalized during the ICC’s Annual Conference in Edinburgh, where cricket’s governing body discussed a wide range of financial, governance, and membership matters affecting the global game.
The financial assistance is expected to provide Cricket West Indies with much-needed support as it works to strengthen its financial position and sustain the development of cricket across the Caribbean.
In addition to approving the loan, the ICC introduced several governance reforms aimed at improving transparency and operational efficiency within the organization.
New governance committees were established to enhance decision-making and oversight across various areas of international cricket.
The ICC also officially welcomed Mauritius as its 111th member, further expanding the sport’s global footprint. Meanwhile, the governing body reviewed the membership status of several cricket boards as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with its membership framework and governance standards.
