Punjab Launches “Shrimp Internship Program”, with Rs. 1 Lac Monthly Stipend For Interns, Apply Now

The Government of Punjab has announced the Shrimp Internship Program 2026–27, a new initiative designed to equip young graduates with practical skills while creating employment opportunities in Pakistan’s growing aquaculture sector. Under the program, 100 interns from technical and professional backgrounds will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 100,000 during a one-year training period. The initiative aims to develop a skilled workforce capable of supporting the province’s long-term shrimp farming and aquaculture ambitions.

One-Year Hands-On Training

Selected candidates will be posted at the Shrimp Estate in Ali Wali, Muzaffargarh, where they will gain practical experience in various aspects of commercial shrimp farming. The internship has been structured to provide industry-focused training that meets international standards and prepares graduates for careers in aquaculture.

Participants will receive training in shrimp farming techniques, hatchery operations, feed production, processing, laboratory practices, quality control, and marketing. The government believes this practical exposure will help strengthen Punjab’s fisheries sector while creating new employment opportunities for young professionals.

Strengthening Punjab’s Aquaculture Industry

The internship is part of Punjab’s broader strategy to expand shrimp aquaculture and increase exports from the fisheries sector. The provincial government has been investing in shrimp farming infrastructure, research facilities, technology transfer, and workforce development to establish a sustainable aquaculture industry.

Officials believe that developing skilled professionals through structured training programs will improve production standards, attract investment, and enhance Pakistan’s competitiveness in international seafood markets.

Eligibility and Application Process

Interested and eligible candidates can submit their applications through the Punjab Government’s official jobs portal. Applicants are required to search for “Punjab Shrimp Internship Program” on the portal and complete the online application form with the required information.

For additional guidance or technical assistance, applicants may also contact the office of the Project Director, Shrimp Aquaculture. The selection process will be merit-based, with successful candidates receiving placement for the full one-year internship.

A Step Toward Youth Employment

The Punjab government’s latest initiative reflects its continued focus on youth development, technical training, and employment generation. By combining financial support with practical industry experience, the Shrimp Internship Program is expected to prepare graduates for careers in aquaculture while contributing to the growth of Pakistan’s fisheries sector.
