Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has achieved a major financial milestone by collecting Rs. 150 billion in its own-source revenue during the fiscal year 2025–26. This is the highest amount the province has collected so far and is well above its original target of Rs. 129 billion. Notably, this achievement was made without introducing any new taxes.
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the strong performance was the result of better governance, improved financial management, digitalisation of government services, and increased efficiency in public institutions.
He explained that these reforms helped improve revenue collection while making government departments more transparent and effective.
Encouraged by this success, the provincial government has set an even higher revenue target of Rs180 billion for the fiscal year 2026–27. The long-term goal is to increase annual revenue to Rs200 billion by continuing the same reform agenda and improving public sector performance.
The Chief Minister also shared the government’s future plans to support economic growth and sustainable development.
These include completing the digital transformation of government services, expanding hydropower projects to produce more clean energy, investing in environmentally friendly infrastructure, and introducing more opportunities for young people through employment and economic development initiatives.
Afridi also acknowledged the valuable support of the World Bank in strengthening the province’s public financial management system. He said this partnership has played an important role in implementing key reforms and improving the efficiency of government institutions.
The provincial government believes that these continued reforms will help strengthen the economy, improve public services, and create a better future for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
