The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that the current spell of monsoon rains will continue across Punjab until August 5. In response to the forecast, authorities have been instructed to remain on high alert and stay prepared for any weather-related emergencies.
According to officials, water levels in most of the country’s major rivers are currently within the normal range. However, heavy rainfall in the coming days could lead to urban flooding in several cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Faisalabad, and Multan. Low-lying areas may be affected if the rainfall becomes more intense.
The PMD has also warned of possible landslides in Murree and other hilly regions due to continuous rain. People travelling to these areas have been advised to stay updated on weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall.
Authorities have urged residents to follow official weather advisories and take all necessary safety precautions. People have been advised to avoid going near rivers, streams, and flood-prone areas, especially during heavy rain, as water levels can rise quickly.
