Major Boost! Govt Approves Rs. 27.6 Billion for Sialkot-Kharian Motorway

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved a sovereign guarantee of Rs. 27.6 billion for the Sialkot-Kharian Motorway project, marking a significant step toward advancing one of Pakistan’s key infrastructure developments. The approval is expected to facilitate financial arrangements for the project, helping ensure its timely execution and completion.

Once completed, the Sialkot-Kharian Motorway will provide faster and more efficient connectivity between the two cities while improving access to surrounding areas. The modern road network is expected to reduce travel time, enhance road safety, and make the movement of passengers and goods more convenient.

The project is also anticipated to strengthen regional trade and logistics by improving transportation links for businesses, manufacturers, and exporters. Better infrastructure will enable smoother supply chains, lower transportation costs, and increase the efficiency of commercial activities across the region.

Officials believe the motorway will play an important role in supporting economic development, attracting new investment, generating employment opportunities during and after construction, and contributing to long-term regional growth. The initiative reflects the government’s continued focus on expanding Pakistan’s transport infrastructure to improve connectivity and support sustainable economic progress.
