Punjab’s Special Education Department has launched a five-day province-wide door-to-door survey to identify children with special educational needs and better understand the challenges they face in accessing education.
The initiative will involve heads of special education institutions, teachers and non-teaching staff visiting households to collect relevant information about children who may require specialized educational support. Geo-tagged photographs and other necessary details will also be recorded as part of the process.
The survey is aimed at helping authorities develop a more comprehensive and updated record of children with special educational needs across Punjab. The information gathered could support better planning, improve identification of eligible children and help connect them with appropriate special education institutions and services.
The initiative also highlights the importance of ensuring that children with disabilities and other special educational needs are not left behind. By improving outreach and identification at the community level, Punjab hopes to strengthen access to suitable educational opportunities and support services for more children across the province.
