The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has identified a promising young fast bowler, Qayyum Khan, from Jhang, Punjab, who has impressed with his exceptional pace. The right arm pacer recently recorded a top speed of 152 km/h during an assessment at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.
Qayyum started playing with tape balls across Pakistan and also gave trials for Lahore Qalandars, where he reportedly bowled at around 147 km/h. He then came into cricket through the Prime Minister’s Talent Hunt Programme and later represented Sports Board Punjab in Grade II cricket. He has not yet played first class cricket. He is currently attending a five-day fast-bowling development camp at the NCA, running from August 24 to 28.
PCB High Performance Director Aaqib Javed has described Qayyum as a promising pace talent who can regularly bowl around 150 km/h and go beyond that mark. The board plans to develop his skills and give him opportunities at higher levels of cricket.
