Several parts of Pakistan are likely to experience another period of unsettled weather as monsoon activity increases across the upper regions of the country.
According to the weather forecast, a westerly system is expected to influence the country from August 31 to September 5. During this period, rain, thunderstorms and strong winds are likely in a number of northern and central areas, with isolated spells of heavy rainfall also possible.
Kashmir, Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are among the regions expected to receive showers. Some locations could experience intense rainfall during individual spells, increasing the possibility of water accumulation in vulnerable areas.
Gilgit-Baltistan is also expected to remain under the influence of the weather system, with rain and thunderstorms forecast through September 6. The region may experience breaks between different spells of rainfall.
Major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Sialkot and Gujranwala are likely to receive rain mainly through September 5. Residents in these areas may see changing weather conditions as the system moves across the country.
In contrast, the weather outlook for Sindh and Balochistan remains largely hot and humid during the forecast period. These provinces are not expected to experience the same level of rainfall activity as the northern parts of the country.
The expected showers could provide some relief from hot conditions in affected areas, but heavy rain may also create temporary difficulties for commuters and residents in low-lying locations.
People living in areas vulnerable to urban flooding, landslides or strong winds are advised to remain alert and follow updates issued by the relevant authorities.
The weather pattern is expected to remain changeable into the first week of September, particularly across the northern and upper parts of Pakistan.
