iPhone 17 Pro Survives 100,000-Foot Drop to Set New World Record

An iPhone 17 Pro has reportedly achieved a Guinness World Record after surviving a dramatic 100,418-foot drop onto natural land in Kiruna, Sweden.

As part of the experiment, the smartphone was attached to a weather balloon and lifted into the stratosphere, reaching an altitude of more than 100,000 feet—over three times the typical cruising altitude of a commercial passenger aircraft.

The device was protected by a specially designed RhinoShield case before being released from the extreme altitude. Despite the extraordinary fall, the phone reportedly remained functional after reaching the ground.

Guinness World Records recognised the stunt under the title “Highest drop of a mobile phone in a phone case onto natural landforms,” putting the durability of the protective case in the spotlight.
