Government schools in Muzaffargarh have been asked to grow seasonal vegetables on their premises while continuing regular academic activities.
The district education department has issued instructions to school heads, asking them to make proper arrangements for planting and caring for vegetable crops. Each school has also been directed to assign a staff member to oversee the work.
Schools where vegetable production has not been satisfactory have been told to plant crops again. Officials have also stressed the need for regular watering and proper care to keep the plants healthy.
School administrations must also share daily pictures showing the condition and maintenance of the vegetable gardens. Headmasters and other school heads have been asked to make sure the instructions are followed.
The move follows an earlier vegetable-growing initiative in Muzaffargarh government schools, where crops including spinach, okra and pumpkin were grown and distributed among students, teachers and nearby residents.
