Punjab’s Green Tractor Programme Phase-IV has attracted more than 214,000 applications from farmers across the province, reflecting strong interest in government support for agricultural mechanisation.
Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani said 10,000 tractors will be distributed to selected farmers through transparent balloting. Each tractor will come with a subsidy of Rs750,000 under the programme.
The minister also highlighted the Kissan Card initiative, which is currently benefiting one million farmers by providing financial support for their agricultural needs.
In another development, the final selection of 1,500 young agricultural graduates has been completed. Their field activities are scheduled to begin from September 16, with the graduates expected to contribute to agricultural activities across Punjab.
The provincial government is focusing on increasing the use of modern machinery and providing financial assistance to farmers to improve farming practices.
The Green Tractor Programme is part of these efforts, giving farmers an opportunity to acquire tractors at a significantly reduced cost through the government subsidy.
Authorities believe greater access to agricultural machinery can help farmers improve efficiency, reduce reliance on traditional farming methods and increase productivity.
With the tractor programme, Kissan Card and the involvement of young agricultural graduates, Punjab is expanding its efforts to modernise the agriculture sector and strengthen support for farmers across the province.
