The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s right to defend its territory and security in accordance with international law, amid escalating attacks by Yemen’s Houthis.
The joint statement was issued following a meeting on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The ministers expressed concern over the continuing conflicts and rising tensions across the region, while emphasizing the importance of protecting freedom and safety of navigation along regional maritime routes.
The four countries also stressed that dialogue and diplomacy remain central to addressing regional disputes and achieving lasting peace.
They further reaffirmed support for Yemen’s government and its efforts to promote stability, security and a peaceful political settlement.
The statement comes as renewed fighting and Houthi attacks have increased pressure on regional security and maritime routes, making de-escalation and diplomatic engagement key issues during discussions at the UN General Assembly.
