Pakistan’s hydrocarbon sector has recorded a positive development as new oil and gas discoveries have helped increase the country’s overall energy reserves.
According to industry data, Pakistan’s total hydrocarbon reserve life has now increased to around 17 years, reflecting the contribution of recent exploration activities and discoveries.
Proven oil reserves have risen by 6% to approximately 253 million barrels, while natural gas reserves increased by 4% to around 18,854 billion cubic feet.
The latest additions are expected to provide greater support to the country’s domestic energy supply.
Oil reserves are estimated to cover around 11 years of consumption, while natural gas reserves could last approximately 18 years at current levels.
The increase highlights the importance of continued exploration, investment and development of domestic energy resources.
Further discoveries could help reduce reliance on imported fuels and strengthen Pakistan’s long-term energy security.
