Pakistan Television (PTV) batter Muhammad Shahzad has set a new record for the fastest first-class century by a Pakistani batter. He reached the milestone in just 49 balls during the third round of the President’s Trophy Grade-I on Thursday, September 24.
Shahzad achieved the record while playing against Kingsmen Academy at the Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad. His century came with a highly attacking innings that included 12 fours and eight sixes.
The 22-year-old batter went on to score 114 runs from only 62 balls before being dismissed. His innings was the sixth first-class century of his career and helped PTV post a strong total in their first innings.
Shahzad broke the previous Pakistani record held by former captain Misbah-ul-Haq. Misbah had scored a 56-ball century against Australia in 2014. The new mark is 7 balls faster than Misbah’s record.
Shahzad’s century is also listed as the eighth-fastest hundred in first-class cricket history. The overall record stands at 27 balls, jointly held by England’s Glen Chapple and Mark Pettini.
The President’s Trophy Grade-I is Pakistan’s first red-ball domestic tournament of the 2026-27 season, featuring eight teams.
