A Karachi-based football team travelling to Quetta to participate in the ongoing Chief Minister Gold Cup reportedly faced a robbery incident along with other passengers on their bus.
According to reports, the bus was stopped by armed men while travelling between Mastung and Sarayab. The passengers were allegedly held for nearly an hour as the attackers searched them and took valuables.
Several football players were reportedly among those affected. Reports said that some passengers and players were assaulted during the incident. Cash and mobile phones worth lakhs of rupees were allegedly taken from the travellers.
More than a dozen armed individuals were reportedly involved in the incident, with their faces covered. After taking the valuables, the attackers reportedly left the passengers and allowed the bus to resume its journey towards Quetta.
The football team had been travelling to the Balochistan capital for the Chief Minister Gold Cup, adding concern to an incident that involved people travelling for a sporting event.
