A school van carrying children met with an accident in Murree on Tuesday, leaving the driver and 10 students injured after the vehicle went off the road and caught fire.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, the Suzuki Bolan was travelling near Misyari Lower Mohra Barahotar when the driver reportedly lost control. The van fell off the roadside before catching fire, prompting an immediate emergency response.
Rescue teams reached the location and provided first aid to the injured passengers. The children and driver were subsequently taken to Civil Hospital Murree for medical treatment.
Firefighters also responded to the scene and worked to extinguish the blaze. The fire was brought under control, preventing it from spreading further.
Local sources reported that most of the children sustained minor injuries in the accident. The students remained under medical observation at the hospital following the incident.
Deputy Commissioner Murree and Assistant Commissioner Murree also visited the hospital after the accident. The officials reviewed the condition of the injured children and monitored the arrangements being made for their treatment.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of school transport, particularly on the mountainous roads of Murree where sharp turns and steep roadside sections can create additional risks for vehicles carrying students.
Authorities are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the accident as the injured students receive medical care.
