No airline operating in Pakistan has met the required on-time departure target in 2026, according to the latest performance data. Overall, only 67.5% of flights departed on schedule, 12.5 percentage points below the regulatory target of 80%.
The performance has also remained below the required level in previous years. About 68.4% of flights departed on time in 2025, compared with 72.6% recorded among five airlines in 2024. The figures show that punctuality has remained well below the benchmark.
The data also points to problems with flight cancellations. In 2024, only two of the four airlines assessed met the required cancellation standard. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has responded by taking enforcement action against airlines that fail to meet the prescribed requirements.
The authority has issued show cause notices and imposed financial penalties on carriers over delays and cancellations. Fines can reach Rs 1 million for a violation. Under the current enforcement process, the amount can be recovered directly from an airline’s deposited funds instead of waiting for the carrier to pay it separately.
