Antiques Worth Rs. 20 Million Stolen from Nawab of Bahawalpur’s Islamabad Residence

Historical antiques and family heirlooms reportedly valued at around Rs. 20 million have been stolen from the Islamabad residence of Prince Bahawal Abbas Khan Abbasi, a member of the former Nawab of Bahawalpur’s family.

According to police, the incident took place at the residence in the F-8/3 area of Islamabad. The theft came to light when family members discovered that a storeroom had been broken into and several valuable items were missing.

Among the reported stolen belongings are a silver throne chair, a silver ladder, silver bowls and statues, gold plates and other items carrying the crest of the former Bahawalpur State. Antique musket guns and swords are also among the items reported missing.

The belongings are considered significant not only because of their monetary value but also because of their historical connection with the former Bahawalpur State and its ruling family. Some of the items are understood to have been preserved as family heirlooms over the years.

Police have registered a case under Sections 454 and 380 of the Pakistan Penal Code in connection with the alleged break-in and theft. Investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident and working to identify the missing property.

The family is still preparing a complete inventory of the stolen items, meaning the final number and value of the missing antiques could change once the assessment is completed.

The case has drawn attention because of the reported disappearance of historically significant objects from a private residence in the federal capital.
