FIA has arrested a former private bank branch manager at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport after he returned to Pakistan from the United Arab Emirates.
According to FIA, the suspect, Imran Sajid, had been declared a proclaimed offender and was placed on the Passport Control List (PCL). He was taken into custody by FIA officials following his arrival from the UAE.
The agency alleges that Sajid, along with an accomplice, convinced a resident of Okara to invest Rs. 10 million by promising attractive returns. Investigators claim that instead of depositing the amount into the bank as promised, the suspects allegedly misappropriated the money.
The FIA further stated that the suspects later returned Rs. 2.5 million in cash to the complainant. Another Rs. 2.5 million was reportedly paid through a cheque, but the cheque was later dishonoured.
The case was subsequently pursued by the FIA, which placed Sajid on the PCL and continued efforts to locate him. His arrest at the Lahore airport followed his return from the UAE.
The agency has taken the suspect into custody as the investigation continues. Officials are expected to examine the financial transactions, the role of the alleged accomplice and other details surrounding the disputed investment.
The allegations remain subject to investigation and legal proceedings, and the suspect will have the opportunity to respond to the charges through the judicial process.
