Pakistan’s newly appointed T20I captain Sahibzada Farhan has recalled how his father always believed he would one day lead the national cricket team. Farhan shared the memory while speaking to the media in Rawalpindi on October 8, ahead of Pakistan’s upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Farhan said he had never imagined himself as Pakistan’s captain. However, being given the responsibility made him realise the importance of his parents’ prayers and support. He added that captaincy brings extra pressure, but he wants to lead through his own performance and set an example for his teammates.
The 30-year-old batter was first given Pakistan’s T20 captaincy for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. He led the team to a silver medal after Pakistan lost to India in the final.
The Pakistan Cricket Board later appointed Farhan as the national T20I captain, replacing Salman Ali Agha. He will lead Pakistan in a three-match home series against Sri Lanka beginning October 9 in Rawalpindi.
