So-Called Relief Again! Petrol Price Decreased by Only Rs 0.66/Litre

Pakistan has announced another adjustment in petroleum prices, reducing petrol by 66 paisa per litre while increasing the price of high-speed diesel by 52 paisa. Under the revised rates, petrol will now cost Rs398.30 per litre, whereas high-speed diesel will be available at Rs396.24 per litre. The new prices will remain effective from October 10 to October 12, 2026.

According to the Petroleum Division, the latest changes are linked to developments in international oil markets, including fluctuations in Platts benchmark rates, petroleum premiums and other incidental costs.

These factors continue to influence the pricing of petroleum products in Pakistan, resulting in frequent adjustments to domestic fuel rates.

The latest revision comes just one day after petrol and diesel prices were increased by Rs2.31 and 78 paisa per litre, respectively, effective October 9.

The successive changes highlight the continuing volatility in fuel prices and the impact of international market movements on Pakistan’s domestic petroleum sector.

While the reduction in petrol prices offers limited relief to motorists, the increase in diesel costs could add pressure to transportation and freight expenses, potentially affecting the prices of goods and other essential services.

Consumers and businesses will be watching closely for further developments as the government continues to adjust fuel prices in response to changing market conditions.
