Pakistan’s information technology and technology exports reached $435 million in September 2026, marking the second-highest monthly total in the country’s history, according to Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad. The figure came close to the record of $437 million recorded in December 2025, falling short by just $2 million.
IT exports recorded an 18% increase compared with September last year and grew by 10% from the previous month, reflecting continued expansion in Pakistan’s technology sector.
The positive trend also continued during the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026-27, with total IT exports reaching $1.25 billion between July and September. This represented an increase of approximately 18% compared with the same period a year earlier.
Schehzad attributed the growth to incentives introduced in the FY27 federal budget, particularly measures aimed at supporting IT exporters and encouraging businesses to expand their international operations.
He also highlighted the growing contribution of Pakistan’s digital economy to the country’s overall economic activity.
According to the adviser, rising IT exports are helping Pakistan generate foreign exchange through technology services rather than relying on additional borrowing.
The sector is also creating opportunities for high-value employment, supporting skilled professionals and strengthening connections between Pakistani businesses and international markets.
The latest figures highlight the growing importance of information technology as a source of export earnings for Pakistan.
Sustaining this momentum could further strengthen the country’s digital economy, attract international business opportunities and expand the role of technology services in supporting long-term economic growth.
