Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) in Khairpur, Sindh, has declared the academic records of 1,184 LLB candidates invalid following an investigation into their educational documents. The university has confirmed that the records of 64 candidates were genuine.
According to reports published on October 18, 2026, the disputed records include 658 candidates from the three-year LLB programme for the 2016, 2017 and 2018 batches, and 526 candidates from the five-year programme for the 2017 batch.
An inquiry committee examined examination records, attendance sheets, fee details, bank statements and other documents before reaching its decision. The university has sent the findings to the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan Bar Council and relevant provincial bar councils for further action.
The university said the decision was taken to address irregular enrolments and protect candidates with valid qualifications.
The case has raised concerns about the verification of law degrees and the admission process at affiliated colleges. Further action by the relevant authorities will determine the consequences for those affected.
