Apple, Louis Vuitton, Rolex & Other Global Brand Stores Looted in France During Cost-of-Living Protests

Stores belonging to major global brands, including Apple, Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Rolex, were looted during violent protests across France on October 17, 2026. The demonstrations began over rising living costs and concerns about public services and education.

In Bordeaux, masked groups broke into shops along Rue Sainte-Catherine, a busy shopping street, targeting Apple and Louis Vuitton outlets. An Apple store in Lille and luxury shops in Marseille were also among the reported targets.

The protests spread across several French cities, with some groups smashing shop windows, setting vehicles on fire and damaging public buildings. In Limoges, a historic town hall was badly damaged by fire.

French authorities reported around 1,800 arrests following the unrest, while hundreds of police officers and other emergency personnel were injured.

Although many people joined peaceful demonstrations, violent groups carried out looting and vandalism in several areas. President Emmanuel Macron condemned the violence and said those responsible would face legal action.

The unrest has increased pressure on the French government to address public concerns over living costs and declining public services.
