Men Steals Rs. 2.8 Million Worth of Mobile Phones After Changing Shop Locks Before Closing

A shopkeeper in Karachi’s Saddar mobile market reportedly suffered a loss of Rs2.8 million after a suspect allegedly stole mobile phones and other valuable items by secretly changing the shop’s locks.

The incident involved an unusual method that allowed the suspect to enter the shop after it had been closed for the day. Video footage of the theft circulated following the incident, leaving other traders in the busy market surprised.

According to reports, the suspect visited the shop before closing time and waited for an opportunity to carry out the plan. He allegedly replaced the existing locks shortly before the shopkeeper prepared to leave.

Unaware of the change, the shopkeeper locked the shutter and went home, believing the premises were secure. However, the altered locks reportedly allowed the suspect to reopen the shop later without attracting immediate attention.

Once inside, the suspect allegedly collected mobile phones and other goods worth approximately Rs2.8 million before escaping.

The incident has raised concerns among traders about the security of commercial establishments, particularly in crowded markets where shops contain expensive electronic products.

The unusual technique used in the theft has also drawn attention to the importance of checking locks and strengthening security arrangements after business hours.

The incident was reportedly recorded on video, providing footage of the alleged theft. Further details about the suspect and any police investigation were not included in the available reports.

The loss has highlighted the financial risks faced by shopkeepers dealing in high-value electronics and the need for effective measures to protect businesses against such incidents.
