National Bank of Pakistan Approves Rs. 95 Lakh Monthly Salary for CEO Imran Sarwar

Shareholders of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) have approved the compensation package for President and CEO Imran Sarwar for the 2026–2029 contract period.

Under the approved arrangement, Sarwar will receive a monthly salary of Rs9.5 million before tax. He will also be provided with a house rent allowance of Rs1 million every month, adding to his fixed monthly compensation.

The package further includes a performance-based annual bonus. The incentive will be separate from his regular salary and will depend on the performance criteria set under his employment terms.

As part of his benefits, Sarwar will also have access to two cars during the contract period. His package includes life insurance coverage worth Rs30 million. The annual premium for the insurance will be divided equally between the CEO and the bank.

The approved terms are set to remain fixed throughout the contract, meaning the specified salary, housing allowance and other listed benefits will continue without changes during the 2026–2029 period.

The shareholder approval establishes the financial terms attached to the top executive position at NBP. The package combines a fixed monthly salary with housing support, transportation facilities, insurance coverage and a performance-linked annual payment.

The decision also provides clarity on the remuneration arrangement for Sarwar during his tenure as the bank’s president and chief executive. While the fixed components will remain unchanged, the performance-based bonus will provide an additional element linked to his work during each year of the contract.

The approved package will remain applicable until the conclusion of the three-year contract, covering Sarwar’s salary and the additional benefits agreed by NBP shareholders.
