A Blinkit delivery worker who used a bicycle to carry orders in New Delhi broke down in tears after receiving an electric scooter through a welfare campaign under Anant Ambani’s organisation. Video of Sujit’s surprise and his embrace with social volunteer Hussain Mansuri has spread widely on social media.
A roadside conversation about the cost
The video shows Mansuri stopping Sujit on the road and asking his name before discussing why he made deliveries by bicycle. Sujit explained that he used the vehicle he had available.
When Mansuri asked why he did not buy a scooter, Sujit said his earnings were too low to afford one. After their conversation, Mansuri asked him to finish his delivery before taking him to another location.
A blindfolded reveal
At the destination, Sujit was blindfolded and led towards an electric scooter concealed beneath a red cloth. Once the blindfold came off and he saw the new vehicle, he began crying with happiness and hugged Mansuri.
Sujit said he had never imagined that he would own a vehicle like it. He then invited Mansuri to sit on the scooter first and took his photograph, saying the picture and the moment would stay with him.
Support for low-income gig workers
The scooter was provided free through the campaign run under Ambani’s organisation. The initiative aims to ease daily difficulties for low-income gig workers and help them access better livelihood opportunities.
